What Kind of Jewelry Can I Use for My Piercing?
Here at Shaman Modifications we have a large variety of jewelry that we can use for initial piercings. We cannot use anything organic (i.e. stone, wood, horn, etc.) for the jewelry of initial piercings. Rings and things made of Surgical Steel tend to take longer to heal, so we prefer not to use those.
So what CAN we use for initial piercings? Implant Grade Titanium (ASTM F136 6AL-4V ELI) tends to work the best for several reasons. Not only does your body accept the metal easier than Surgical Stainless Steel, but it is also lighter in weight and will sit and heal more comfortably in your new piercing. The other nice thing about Titanium is that we have an anodizer and can change the color of the metal for the initial piercing. Unfortunately, Red and Black are a couple of colors that we cannot produce from the titanium jewelry. Barbells, labret studs and curved barbells are the types of jewelry we commonly insert, but if you are determined and don't mind the extra long healing time on the piercing due to the type of metal or jewelry style, we can pierce with Surgical Stainless, captive bead rings, and circular barbells.
Many of our clients have expressed concern about their employers and their policy towards piercings. It is important to check with the guidelines and dress code policy at your work before deciding if getting a piercing is right for you and/or conducive to your life style. If they do allow piercing but would like you to wear a retainer, we have them available here and CAN PIERCE with them! They are made of either Quartz glass or a medical grade pyrex glass. They generally conceal the piercing extremely well and will not get "foggy" or cause problems like plastic retainers would.
As for jewelry, the sky's the limit. If we do not have what you are looking for in stock we can always special order the jewelry. And if you cannot find a design your heart desires we can find someone to MAKE it for you.
