How Old Do I Have to be to get Pierced?
To receive a piercing you must be 18 years of age and have a valid proof of identification that is issued by the government or state (examples: Drivers Licenses, Military ID, Passports, even international licenses). The Texas Health Department requires that you have an ID that has your NAME, BIRTH DATE, and PICTURE. School ID's, Work ID's, or even credit cards with your birth certificate are not acceptable forms of identification.
We can and will do piercing on minors, but we are very particular what piercing we do and who we do them on. It is studio policy not to pierce anyone who does not ask to get pierced. This includes infants, toddlers, etc. We can perform various ear piercings for people under the age of 16, but it is studio policy not to perform a Body Piercing on people who are under the age of 16. This is for the protection of the client and to prevent excess problems that can occur during the life of the piercing as their body grows and develops. Clients between the age of 16 and 17 can get body piercings, but again, it too is limited on what they can get.
We do require a consultation for all minors who are wanting to get pierced to talk over the procedure and aftercare. We will answer any question that you may have for us and also questions the guardians may have as well. At the time of the procedure, the guardian who is on the Parental Consent form must be present in the room at all times. This is studio policy and for the protection of your child.
For minors wanting to receive a piercing, identification must be brought in by the client and the guardian that shows they are the legal guardian of the person getting the piercing. A drivers license brought in by both guardian and client that shows they have the same last name and same address is acceptable. If the client does not have a drivers license or their last name and/or address does not match, a parental consent form must be notarized and brought in.
